From Tutoring to the Real World: Career Advice

Philip Booyse, a Mastering It Tutor, has carved out an interesting career trajectory. His current role combines the worlds of accounting, chefing, and tutoring. “I started my career as an accountant,” Philip shared. “There were plenty of opportunities in the field, and accountants were known for earning good salaries.”

The stability and security offered by accounting provided a solid foundation while Philip pursued his passions as a chef and tutor. He emphasized the importance of adaptability in career choices. “Even if you’re confident about your initial career path, things can change over time,” Philip advised. “The skills and knowledge you acquire can be valuable in various fields. So, don’t be afraid to explore different avenues.”

Elbastian Jegels, a Senior Lab Analyst at Lactalis SA, the world’s largest dairy company, has found his calling in the laboratory. “I chose this career as a way to satisfy my desire to work in a lab environment,” Elbastian explained. “Conducting microbiological and chemical tests on raw materials and finished products is incredibly rewarding.”

However, Elbastian also highlighted the challenges of the job, such as long hours and a constant stream of samples. His advice to aspiring professionals? “Follow your passion and choose a field that won’t be easily replaced by artificial intelligence.”
