Let’s be honest— no one wants to spend hours studying after a long day at school. The good news? If you learn to focus better in class, you won’t need to study as much later. Here’s how to make it happen:
1. Sit Smart
Try to sit near the front or wherever you know you’ll be less distracted. This is often not where it’s the most comfortable to sit. So many of us make the mistake of making a beeline for the back row, but this is where we are distracted the easiest. Sitting up front means you’ll be forced to pay attention, which means less catch-up work later!
2. Be (Kind Of) a Note-Taking Ninja
You don’t need to write every single word the teacher says. Instead, jot down the main ideas or anything the teacher repeats. Hint hint: that’s what’s important. Making little summaries in your own words helps your brain lock in the info faster, and it means that you don’t have to make notes later.
3. Ask Questions (Even the Small Ones)
If something doesn’t make sense, ask about it right away or jot it down and ask after class. Fixing confusion early saves you tons of study time later. We guarantee that if you are confused, someone else is too, so don’t be embarrassed!

4. Stay Off the Scroll
We all love our phones, but checking them in class leads to missing key info which leads to extra study time later. Mute it, hide it, or leave it in your bag — future you will be grateful.
5. Review Right After Class
This sounds boring, but even a 5-minute review after class (just glancing over your notes or talking about the topic with a friend) helps you remember things way better. Less forgetting = less cramming later.
Bottom line: If you stay sharp in class, you won’t have to work twice as hard at home. So give your future self a break, and work smarter, not harder!
